What evidence is there for coastal erosion?

how can we tell it is happening? how to stop it? Any defenses to stop it?

  1. Missing sand is the largest indication of erosion. Reefs help stop erosion, both artificial and natural.
  2. coastal landforms, e.g cliffs, caves, stacks, stumps
  3. Coastal erosion is huge and inevitable. There are waves sometimes violent, that never stop. there are powerful undercurrents eating away every minute. This is natural and cannot be stopped or controlled. This is the way, along with earth quakes, tsunamis, etc. that our continents have been carved into the shapes they have. Remember the terrible tsunami that devastated South east Asia a few years ago? It was caused by a gigantic submarine landslide. Another landslide like that is predicted for Oregon and Wa. the shoreline is severely under cut there It happened before and the resulting tsunami caused damage as far away as Japan. So don't relocate to Seattle!!!
